PLANNING | Stockport green lights Redrow, Hall & Co schemes
The former Woodford Aerodrome will soon hold 295 homes now that the council has approved the housebuilder’s plans, while the town’s Underbanks will undergo a multi-million-pound regeneration.
Those were the two major projects granted planning permission at Stockport Council’s meeting on 11 November.
Underbanks regeneration
Four residential-led projects made up this part of the planning committee’s agenda, with the council opting to consider them as one application.
At 29-35 Little Underbank, developer Hall & Co will demolish the current building and build another 9,531 sq ft structure with eight one-bedroom apartments and four two-bedroom ones. There will also be 1,492 sq ft of commercial space.
The next site is 1-3 Lower Hillgate, which will hold a 4,542 sq ft building with three one-bedroom apartments and three two-bedroom ones. Like in Little Underbank, there will be commercial space as well – this time only 736 sq ft.
Close by, at 6-16 Lower Hillgate, Hall & Co will demolish the current building to build a 9,759 sq ft structure with 13 one-bedroom apartments and one two-bedroom apartment. There will be 1,554 sq ft of commercial space on the ground floor.
The last site is located at Churchgate and includes constructing a 30,864 sq ft mixed-use building with 44 one-bedroom apartments and six two-bedroom ones. As in the other three proposals, this will have commercial space on the ground floor – 2,852 sq ft.
The design and access statement for the projects includes plans for active rooftops, courtyards and walkways.
