Plans in for Renaker Greengate tower trio

Renaker Build has put in a hybrid application for three towers totalling 1,500 flats at Salford’s Greengate, in a busy week for the developer which also saw details emerge of a further 800 apartments planned at Manchester’s Great Jackson Street.

The proposals, revealed earlier this year, are for three buildings of between 41 and 50 storeys.

The scheme around Collier Street and Greengate would be developed in phases. A first tower of 50 storeys, made up of 559 apartments, is subject to the detailed element of the application, alongside the creation of a public park. Outline permission is requested for the other two towers. Overall, the project could deliver up to 1,521 flats.

At the time of a publication consultation last month, the developer is hoping for planning consent by March, in order to start on site in April.

Designed by OMI Architects, the glass-clad tower includes a three-storey brick podium level, in order to create a neighbourhood at street level, with uses expected to be amenity spaces, bars, restaurants, and shops.

This week also saw Renaker reveal detailed proposals for the second phase of the Crown Street project within the Great Jackson Street masterplan. Two 51-storey towers are planned, to sit alongside the 51-storey Elizabeth tower and 21-storey Victoria tower currently under construction. Phase two is set to total more than 800 apartments, as well as a primary school and a park. Crown Street is designed by SimpsonHaugh.
