Plans lodged for 145-home Old Trafford scheme

YC Property Group wants to redevelop a two-acre site on the corner of Ayres Road and Brixham Road near the cricket ground into a mix of apartments and houses.

The developer has submitted a planning application for the 145-home project, which is located between Metrolink’s Trafford depot and Seymour Grove Allotments.

Designed by Corstorphine & Wright Architects, YC Property Group’s scheme calls for the construction of four apartment blocks and four rows of terraced houses once the existing buildings on the site have been demolished.

The buildings will reach five storeys at their tallest and feature 1,600 sq ft of commercial space. The housing mix will include 59 one-bedroom apartments, 64 flats with two bedrooms, 14 three-bedroom houses, and eight four-bedroom houses.

A total of 54 of the properties will be designated as affordable.

Paul Butler Associates is advising YC Property Group on planning.

Looks good bit more trams are needed to cope with the extra footfall from all the recent developments in the area. It’s already difficult to get on at rush hour.

I am so bored of seeing loads of homes being built but nothing locals can afford.

odd layout on the site for the family houses. Looks a lot like a radburn type plan – with no clear front and back to properties…. and awkward access solutions needed for families.
