Plus Dane acquires 200 Crewe homes

The housing association has bought the properties from Vistry Group, which secured consent for a 791-home development alongside Bloor Homes last year.

Bloor and Vistry have now completed the acquisition of a 117-acre parcel of land off Minshull New Road and Flowers Lane in Leighton.

Vistry has forward sold 208 homes to Plus Dane Housing and will deliver another 200 for open market sale under its Linden and Bovis brands.

Siobhan Moore, director of growth at Plus Dane Housing, said: “We have really expanded our footprint in Crewe over the past few years with more than 150 homes in the near-by Alexandra Gardens development still being completed.

“We are excited about the Leighton West plans which include a variety of public facilities and interesting outdoor spaces. This new neighbourhood is going to be a vibrant place to live and bring up a family. We are delighted to be part of that vision.”

The remaining 383 homes will be built by Bloor with 39 designated as affordable.

The land is allocated for redevelopment into housing in Cheshire East’s local plan.

As well as homes, the scheme will feature a mixed-use local centre featuring community and leisure facilities, a pub, a children’s day nursery, and a site for a new primary school.

Joe Turner, managing director at Vistry Manchester and Cheshire East, said: “Leighton West will not only address the local demand for high-quality housing, including affordable homes, but will also deliver a host of community benefits – from green spaces to new commercial, retail, and educational facilities – helping to create a vibrant, sustainable neighbourhood for Crewe.”

James Clark, managing director for Bloor Homes’ North West region, added: “We are very much looking forward to delivering high quality homes, significant green spaces and several other key benefits to the local community in this exciting collaboration with Vistry.”
