Preston gives thumbs up to 600 homes
At their meeting last week the city council’s planning committee approved proposals for 281 properties in Lea from Story Homes, and 320 residences in Higher Bartle from Bloor and Taylor Wimpey.
Both applications had been recommended for approval.
Here is what will be built:
Land west of Lea Road
Story has gained permission for 161 homes on the northern parcel of the land, including 32 affordable homes, and outline planning permission for up to 120 homes on the southern parcel where a further 20% affordable homes will be developed.
It is expected that work will begin on-site this autumn.
Around eight acres of land will be transferred to Lancashire County Council for the construction of a railway station known as Cottam Park Way, while the scheme is to generate £3.5m via community infrastructure levy.
Head of land and panning for the North West at Story Homes, Martin Nugent, said: “We are delighted that Preston City Council has resolved to approve our scheme to deliver this new residential development on land at Lea Road.
“Our proposals offer a variety of one to five-bedroom homes which offer flexible, open-plan living spaces. The scheme has been carefully designed to reflect the aesthetics of the local area and will feature the attractive street scenes for which Story Homes is renowned.
“This is a key site for Story Homes as we continue to focus on growth throughout the Lancashire area, building on the success of our current schemes in Preston – D’Urton Manor, Elston Park, and Longton Grange. These developments continue to be popular with customers as demand for our high-quality homes in the area remains high.”
On the project team are PWA Planning, Randall Thorp, Croft, RSK Group, E3P, Miller Goodall, and Urban Green

Land to the north of former Maxy Lane
Taylor Wimpey and Bloor Homes have secured full permission to develop 49 acres south of the M55.
Between them, the housebuilders will deliver 320 homes on a site included in the city’s local plan as a strategic location.
A housing mix of two-, three-, and four-bedroom homes will developed with a play area, cycle routes, and green space included.
Earmarked for a 2.5-acre corner of the site is a community centre, while another 11 acres to the north are reserved for a secondary school.
Access will be via William Young Way or Tabley Lane.
The project team includes Lichfields, MPSL Planning and Design, Randal Thorp, Eddisons, RPS, ERAP, TEP, JPM Acoustics, Briary Energy, Award Energy, and Hepworth Acoustics.

Have the planners no sense where is the infrastructure for these houses. Houses need schools, dentists, doctors etc etc. Wake up planners and sort it out.
