Preston resi site hits market for £1.5m
Caro Developments is selling the former police headquarters plot off Lawson Street, seven months after securing planning permission for 227 student flats there.
Currently a car park, the nearly one-acre site is situated on the corner of Walker Street and Lawson Street, close to the University of Central Lancashire campus in Preston.
Caro’s agent Jonathan Owen is marketing the site with a guide price of £1.5m. Should a future buyer wish to continue with the consented plans, they would be able to erect a stepped apartment block with a gym, games room, and cinema. The building would be nine storeys at its tallest.
The Preston site had marked Liverpool-based Caro’s Preston debut. However, the developer has chosen to refocus its efforts on its home region.
Caro managing director Neil Carlyle said: “This is an opportunistic disposal based on the strength of Preston’s market and our desire to focus on projects a bit closer to home.”
Current Caro projects include the delivery of 250 student beds next to the Home Bargains off Kempston Street in Liverpool’s Fabric District. The scheme is still awaiting planning permission.
