PureGym picks Liverpool Shopping Park
The 24-hour fitness operator has signed a 15-year lease with Derwent Group on a 15,000 sq ft unit at the Edge Lane retail destination, its eighth branch in the city region.
PureGym is due to open this summer, becoming the park’s first gym and joining fellow tenants Nike, M&S Food Hall, Greggs, Boots, Next, Smyths Toys, JD Sports, Hollywood Bowl and T K Maxx.
The private equity-owned company has existing sites in the Lewis’s building in Liverpool city centre, Brunswick, Aintree, Bidston Moss, Bromborough, Ormskirk and Kirkby. There are 340 PureGyms in the UK.
James Maule-Ffinch, senior asset manager at the Derwent Group, says: “The prominent location of Liverpool Shopping Park, fronting Edge Lane, means that it has immediate appeal to retail and leisure operators.”
Derwent recently submitted a planning application to develop a further 80,000 sq ft of retail and leisure at Liverpool Shopping Park as part of an £11m expansion. A decision is expected in the spring.
The letting agents are McMullen Real Estate and CSP. PureGym represented itself.
These shopping parks have their critics but they are popular for many people and this one has transformed that section of Edge Lane in a positive way ,and Pure Gym are a good addition. Look forward to the day we see the Littlewoods Film Studio on site further along Edge Lane ,as we`ve been waiting for that one far too long
