Revamp of former BASF site in Stockport sails through planning

It took the council’s planning committee fewer than two minutes to approve the redevelopment of the Stanley Green complex, granting consent for a 135,000 sq ft industrial unit.

Acting on behalf of Jersey-based Cantt Pak, PIN Property Consultancy lodged plans to demolish the former BASF HQ and redevelop the site last year.

PIN Property acquired the seven-acre Earl Road site in January 2020 for around £6m, after BASF relocated to Muse Developments’ Stockport Exchange.

The redevelopment proposal includes 10,000 sq ft of offices, 280 car parking spaces and 20 covered cycle bays.

PIN is also working on behalf of Cantt Pak on a 38,000 sq ft industrial scheme at Venture Point, Speke, which was approved by Liverpool City Council in October 2020.

At the same committee meeting last night, the council also resolved to approve Garden House, an urban farm attraction in Marple, bringing to an end a series of wrangles over the site’s operation.
