Rhyl Travelodge completes

Ion Developments and contractor Wynne Construction have handed over the 73-room hotel, the latest project in Rhyl’s waterfront regeneration.

The 30,000 sq ft hotel is on the East Parade car park, near the Pavilion Theatre, and features 69 family rooms, four accessible rooms, and 50 parking spaces.

Developed by Ion for Denbigh Council, the project forms part of a wider £25m investment in Rhyl seafront, which has already seen the completion of a Marston’s pub and restaurant, and the £2.4m upgrade of the Pavilion Theatre, which was also completed by Wynne around 12 months ago.

Contractor ISG is also nearing completion on the SC2, the successor to the former Sun Centre. This is due to open in April and features 12,000 sq ft of leisure space including flume rides, a swimming pool, a café, and play areas.

Ion managing director Steve Parry said: “It’s brilliant to see completion of this excellent addition to Rhyl’s seaside offering. We look forward to seeing the Rhyl Seafront Travelodge provide a boost for Rhyl’s tourism economy as a key component of the Council’s ambitious vision to transform and regenerate the waterfront.”

Leader of Denbigh Council, Cllr Hugh Evans, added: “The completion of work at Rhyl Seafront Travelodge is another milestone in the regeneration of Rhyl.

“Along with SC2 and work on the Rhyl Masterplan, there is more investment ongoing in Rhyl, something which will create jobs and support the economy of Denbighshire as a whole.”
