Rudy’s to take over former Dawsons unit in Manchester
The popular pizza restaurant has lodged a licensing application that, if approved, could see it open its third site in the city centre.
The two-storey, glass-fronted unit on Portland Street had been occupied by Dawsons Music since 2003 but the store closed its doors last year.
Rudy’s Pizza plans to take over the Bruntwood-owned unit, located on the ground floor of the developer’s Neo office block.
Under the terms of the proposed licence, Rudy’s Portland Street site would open until half past midnight Sunday to Thursday and until 01:30 am on Fridays and Saturdays.
The restaurant chain has an outlet in Ancoats and another on Peter Street.
Out of Manchester city centre, there are Rudy’s in Sale, Leeds, Birmingham and two in Liverpool.
Rudy’s is part of the Mission Mars group of companies that also includes Albert’s Schloss.
Sorry to be a pedant, but I think there is Rudy’s on Northenden Rd in Sale rather than in Northenden itself.
Rarely leave disappointed after a Rudy’s pizza and beer.

I think you’ll find Rudy’s is in Sale rather than Northenden!

What happened to Dawsons. Did they relocate?

I like Rudy’s but hope they aren’t spreading themselves too far. Portland Street isn’t the best of places too!
