Salford to showcase ‘next chapter in the city’s regeneration story’ at MIPIM
Bold plans around Eccles Town Centre, a new framework for MediaCity and Quayside, and an ambitious vision for the Cambridge district will all be promoted in front of an international audience of 20,000 property professionals.
Salford City Council has signed on to work with Marketing Manchester and Place North West to amplify its presence at MIPIM before, during, and after the event; thereby helping encourage investors and developers to partner with the local authority on its forward-thinking plans.
Salford City Council chief executive Tom Stannard will be leading the local authority’s delegation to MIPIM. Joining him will be executive director of place John Searle and head of partnerships and investment Sarah Ashurst.
Stannard said: “For MIPIM 2024, we hope our relationship with Place North West and Marketing Manchester will continue to support us in showcasing the diversity, vibrancy and communities of Salford and enable us to further profile our development and regeneration vision.
“I have no doubt that this partnership will once again help us deliver this and ensure that more and more potential partners are aware of the amazing opportunities we have across the city, what we’ve achieved to date and our shared vision for the future.”
Stannard also spoke about the value of joining forces with other Greater Manchester authorities to present a united voice for the region.
“The strategic approach of collectively speaking with one voice and one shared vision for Salford and Greater Manchester within a global economy is one that has proved successful for us,” he said.
“Working together in the interests of the people of Salford and Greater Manchester, has resulted in successes around delivering on devolution, attracting investment, job creation, economic growth and influencing national government. The goal now continues to be focused on more of the same.
“The ambitions of our city are intrinsically linked with the ambitions of the region. With Greater Manchester’s ever-growing successes, this year it’s even more important to highlight Salford’s continuing role within that story,” he continued.
“Following on from our partnership with Place North West at MIPIM 2023, we’ll be looking to build on this again. Working with the team offers us more opportunity to profile the city, helps us raise awareness of the opportunities within the city to key industry contacts, those interested in the shared future of our great city, and ultimately gives us a platform to share the Salford message beyond our city and Greater Manchester.
“We’ll be working with both partners to again help present and share our vision for the future development of Salford and our endeavours to deliver a fairer, greener, and healthier Salford for all. There’s plenty to update on since last year and we’ll be looking to share the next chapter in the city’s regeneration story.”
Dino Moutsopoulos, managing partner and head of commercial at Place North, said: “Having worked with Salford City Council at this year’s MIPIM, we are pleased that Salford has chosen to work with Place again.
“Salford is an ambitious local authority with an exciting pipeline of transformational projects,” Moutsopoulos said. “The Place team is looking forward to putting the spotlight on the city while at MIPIM, helping to drive further investment and growth in Salford.”
