Seamark revises Droylsden housing plan
Scaled-back proposals for the redevelopment of a former frozen food factory off Edge Lane have been submitted to Tameside Council.
Seamark PLC, which has owned the 6.5-acre Droylsden site since 1997, wants to build 146 homes on the site.
The scheme would feature a mix of one-, to four-bedroom houses and apartments close to Ashton Canal. There would be 72 apartments and 74 houses.
Seamark first submitted plans for the redevelopment of the plot in 2019. The vision at that time was for a 126-bedroom care facility and an additional 100 homes.
However, after discussions with Tameside Council, the applicant has revised its proposals.
The care home element has now been removed and the heights of the apartment blocks of been reduced from six storeys to four.
NJL Consulting is advising on planning and Nichol Thomas is the architect.
The scheme has a GDV of £37m according to a viability assessment by Roger Hannah.
