Shoosmiths signs at XYZ
Allied London has confirmed law firm Shoosmiths as the second tenant within the XYZ building in Spinningfields, with the 32,000 sq ft deal taking the building to more than a third pre-let.
Shoosmiths will occupy a customisable shell office across two floors and is due to relocate from its current base in Hardman Street once the building is completed next year.
Last week Allied London announced that media and entertainment group Global had taken 16,699 sq ft within the block. The fit-out will include broadcasting studios for use by radio stations Capital and Heart.
The 160,000 sq ft XYZ is due to complete in autumn 2016. The building has 20,000 sq ft floorplates and 30,000 sq ft of amenity space.
Vaqas Farooq, partner of Shoosmiths, said: “We love being in Spinningfields and we now need to move forward in Manchester. We were looking for a work environment that is efficient but fits with our culture as a modern, professional service business embodying new work practice principles.
“We have some of the best lawyers in the region and they need a great workspace. We want them to share the values of our business and the best way to do that is invest in an environment where they can see and own values and adopt them in their workplace every day.”
Patrick Joynson of Savills and Claire Quinn of Irwin Mitchell Solicitors acted for Shoosmiths, while Will Lewis of OBI Property and Brian Green of Ward Hadaway acted for Allied London.
