Snowdonia hotel changes hands
The Gwydyr Hotel in Snowdonia National Park has been sold by Dinorben Hotels, advised by Colliers International, off an asking price of £530,000.
The hotel in Betws-y-Coed was acquired by Rob and Dawn Farren from Stratford-upon-Avon who are first-time hoteliers and plan to undertake a comprehensive refurbishment of the property which has 20 en-suite bedrooms, a restaurant, bistro and lounge bar.
Neil Thomson, associate director hotels at the North West office of Colliers International in Manchester, said: "This deal epitomises a steady improvement in market conditions, with a flurry of hotel and guest house transactions throughout North Wales over the past six months.
"The Gwydyr Hotel is a great example of a sensibly priced business opportunity which generated good levels of interest from a wide range of licence and hospitality sector bidders, proving that it may now indeed be the right time to sell."
In April 2013 Colliers International sold the Eagles at Llanrwst, sister hotel of the Gwydyr and also owned by Dinorben Hotels, from an asking price of £280,000 to Peter Jones of Swallows Falls Hotel in Betws-y-Coed.
