Taylor Wimpey to start work on 426-home Clitheroe scheme
The housebuilder said construction would begin this month now that it has completed purchasing the nearly 42-acre site.
The development, known as Half Penny Meadows, sits off Pendle Road on greenfield. Plans were approved for the residential neighbourhood in March 2020.
Martin Beardsworth, a commercial property partner with Napthens, advised the unnamed landowner on the deal with Taylor Wimpey Manchester. The price for the land acquisition was not disclosed.
“This land acquisition marks an exciting time for Taylor Wimpey Manchester as we continue our investment in Clitheroe and provide more high-quality residential homes for people in the area,” said Taylor Wimpey land director Gareth Bancroft.
“The site itself boasts an unrivalled location in the heart of the Ribble Valley, with striking views towards Pendle Hill and we are pleased to be offering a fresh opportunity for people to make this wonderful part of the world their home. We look forward to the weeks ahead and breaking ground on site.”
Half Penny Meadows will have 30% affordable housing. The homes on the site will have between two and five bedrooms.
As part of its planning obligations, Taylor Wimpey will be investing £3m in the local community.
Avison Young was the planner for the scheme, which was crafted by Baldwin Design Consultancy.
