Tessuti scales up at Liverpool One
The fashion retailer is to move into a 40,000 sq ft unit on Paradise Street after the previous occupier, New Look, relocated earlier this year.
Tessuti currently leases unit 15 on Peter’s Lane within Liverpool One but has signed a deal to occupy 29 Paradise Street following New Look’s move to South John Street.
Established in 1985, Tessuti has 34 stores across the UK and is part of the JD Sports group of stores.
The letting comes at a time of heightened activity at Grosvenor’s Liverpool One. Talks with an operator for the vacant Debenhams unit are ongoing, while serviced accommodation provider Edyn has just launched a 60,000 sq ft residential development within the former BridgeStreet Hotel on Paradise Street.
Kenji, Hamleys and Sky all opened new stores at Liverpool One last year and the complex has also welcomed several leisure and hospitality operators in recent months; Maggie Fu, On the Green, Boujee Bar and Massaman among them.
Liverpool One is great. Clean streets, good offer, low vacancy rate. However it highlights the visible weaknesses of the Clayton Square and Bold Street parts of the city centre which conversely have visibly higher vacancy rates, littered, untidy and in need of some investment. Two city centres in one city it could be said.
