Thousands arrive for housing conference
More than 7,000 housing professionals are expected to visit Manchester this week for the annual Housing Conference & Exhibition, which takes place at Manchester Central from Tuesday to Thursday.
The exhibition will contain more than 300 stands hosted by housing associations, house builders and suppliers. The conference programme includes 50 free seminar sessions and hourly presentations on green topics.
Outside Manchester Central there will be numerous fringe events held around the city; law firms Croftons and Winckworth Sherwood, registered social landlords First Ark and industry group Forum for the Built Environment are among those hosting receptions.
The Homes & Communities Agency will have a strong presence at the annual conference, organised by Chartered Institute of Housing. Andy Rose, HCA chief executive, will be interviewed by BBC journalist Naga Munchetty during the keynote interview session in the main auditorium on Tuesday afternoon.
Deborah McLaughlin, executive director for the North West, will take part in a panel discussion on housing supply during Thursday's programme.
The event will begin on Monday evening with a dinner for 1,000 guests at Manchester Central, where awards for unsung heroes of housing will be handed out.
