Tritax keen to crack on with 1m sq ft Wigan industrial

The second phase of Symmetry Park off Junction 25 of the M6 will provide five sheds ranging from 84,500 sq ft to 348,000 sq ft.

Tritax Symmetry has submitted an application to Wigan Council requesting permission to create five development plateaus at the 109-acre site.

The plateaus will pave the way for the construction of 1m sq ft of industrial units, building on the 300,000 sq ft already approved for phase one.

Hybrid planning permission for Tritax’s Wigan logistics scheme was granted in June 2021 after the application was called in by the secretary of state amid concerns about its impact on the Green Belt.

The development was ultimately greenlit, alongside another Greater Manchester industrial project, Harworth’s 1.1m sq ft Wingates scheme in Bolton.

Aew Architects is leading on design and CBRE is advising on planning.
