Truman Design and Build ceases trading
The Bolton-based contractor has appointed liquidators, Place North West understands.
Truman Design and Build was founded in 2016 by directors Colin Drury, Michael Peden, and Andy Dunster. The trio set up the business as a spin out of fit-out contractor Medlock.
Among Truman’s recently completed projects was the Molo Hotel in Liverpool – a £12m, 258-bedroom project – and a £20m student scheme in Preston for Pillars comprising more than 400 rooms.
At the time of its collapse, the contractor was on site at CERT Property’s Centric House in Liverpool and Unicorn Halls, another Preston student development.
Truman’s most recent set of financial results, for the year ended 31 December 2023, showed it was owed £8.2m by debtors and had debts of £7.2m, including more than £4m to its supply chain. The business employed 17 staff.
Truman was contacted for comment.
The firm is the latest in a long line of contractors to hit the wall in recent years. Last year saw the high-profile demise of ISG, while well-known North West names including Cruden Construction, Harry Fairclough, and CPUK are among others to have ceased trading since the start of the decade.
