Upgraded lounge for high flyers at Liverpool Airport underway
Work has started on airport services operator Swissport’s £1.8m investment into an upgraded pre-flight offer at Liverpool John Lennon Airport.
Fit-out contractor DB Designs is on site bringing the 8,070 sq ft Aspire Executive Lounge plans, drawn up by architect DV8 Designs, to life.
Once complete the lounge will round off a more than £10m investment into improving LJLA’s passenger services, offering more customer choice and enhanced security equipment.
The Aspire Executive Lounge will provide private booths, communal workspace, and premium F&B offer across two floors.
Lucy O’Shaughnessy, commercial director of LJLA, said: “The increased capacity and improved facilities will have a real premium feel, giving those passengers looking for somewhere special to relax before their departure, a great start to their journey from Liverpool.”
The lounge would triple the size of the existing facility and be able to cater for twice as many guests with a capacity of more than 200.
The price for standard lounge access to Aspire Lounge will be £45.99 with the Luxe offer costing £51.99, and the facility is set to open on 1 July this year.
David Collyer, global senior vice president of executive lounges at Swissport International, said: “Airport lounges have seen a marked increase in demand from passengers looking for an elegant space to relax, whether for business or pleasure.
“The addition of Luxe by Aspire will mark a real step-change in delivering the premium service our guests are looking for.
“We look forward to creating a truly exceptional lounge experience in Liverpool, where travellers can unwind or work, all while enjoying the luxury of a premium hotel atmosphere.”
Situated a floor above and opposite the entrance to the duty-free area, where there used to be a restaurant and retail units which closed during Covid, the lounge will open from 4:00 am to 9:00 pm.
It will be available to all customers, subject to pre-booking. Various airline priority passes will also be accepted for entry.
First arriving at LJLA in May 2012, the existing Aspire Lounge will remain operational until the new facility is complete.
Good news but we need a rail link, and a longer runway as this Airport needs to grow. We are on an upward curve here with passenger numbers growing and positive reviews about service and reliability, need to be grasping this opportunity now.
