The renewable energy developer is inviting members of the public to provide further opinions to build on the first round of consultation held in November for Scout Moor Two.

Scout Moor Two, if built, would be the largest onshore wind farm in England, with the potential to power 100,000 homes annually by generating 100MW of clean wind energy.

The £200m project includes a moorland restoration programme that aims to mitigate the environmental impact of constructing the wind farm by focusing on restoring degraded peatlands, water management, and biodiversity.

The upcoming second round of consultation will run from Tuesday 25 March to Tuesday 29 April.

Last week, Cubico Sustainable Investments submitted an application to Rochdale Council for the erection of a 91m mast that would take readings for the site.

The opening of the second consultation stage will provide Cubico with feedback on its community benefit charter, which sets out how Cubico will invest in the local area with a ‘community wealth fund’.

Peter Rowe, development manager at Cubico, said: “Scout Moor Two is about more than just delivering clean energy.

“It’s about creating real, lasting benefits for both local residents and the environment.

“Alongside powering up 100,000 homes, we are committed to restoring and protecting many hectares of degraded moorland, improving biodiversity, and creating long-term economic benefits.”

He continued: “Our multi-million-pound Community Wealth Fund will help support local jobs, invest in the area, and fund community projects – making sure that the people who live here see meaningful benefits from hosting this wind farm.”

The existing Scout Moor comprises 26 wind turbines at a height of 100 metres from the ground to the blade tip.

Scout Moor Two is currently subject to an EIA scoping report that has been submitted to both Rochdale and Rossendale Councils.

The project team includes Turley, Fluid, Stephenson Halliday, Pell Frischmann, AOC Archaeology, Air Quality Consultants, Atmos, TNEI, Virtual Planit, EGIS, Lexington, and Charlotte Leach Communications.

We need cheaper and locally produced energy, so this needs to get constructed soon as. Its a baron landscape and wind turbines can always be removed in future without leaving any long term damage (such as coal or nuclear)

This is great news. They need to get on and build it.

Beauty is clearly in the eye of the beholder. I don’t find them ugly I think they are rather beautiful.

Say No to Scout Moor 2. This is destructive and will devastate our ecology
