VIDEO | The top 3 developments of 2023
It has been a busy year for the property industry in the North West – but there were three projects in particular that caught our eye at Place North West.
We’ve put together our list of the projects in 2023 that were, in our view, the most important. To be considered for “top three” status, all the projects had to have been fully completed this year – which meant some of 2023’s biggest headline drivers, such as English Cities Fund’s Eden in Salford, Renaker’s Lighthouse in Manchester, or Capital&Centric’s Littlewoods revamp didn’t make the cut.
As with any ranking, it is entirely subjective – so we won’t call this the “definitive list” of 2023. In fact, we are keen to hear what developments you felt were the most significant this year.
See our picks in the video at the top of this article, or on our YouTube channel. Then let us know your thoughts in the comments.
“Important” buildings sure …but can we agree that they are all objectively ugly? Never been convinced why Manchester needs yet another publicly funded venue either. I find the most innovative schemes to be at a much more human scale – lots going on in public sector/housing association sustainable housing builds getting lost in the “gleaming bauble” focus.

Great to see the multi-storey car park at North Manchester General Hospital in there with the skyscrapers, I’ll take that as 4th place.
