Walker Sime strengthens low-carbon energy expertise
Sheryl Durham has joined the Trafford Park construction consultancy as director of project controls and decarbonisation lead, bringing with her nearly 20 years of experience in crafting systems to help net zero schemes run on budget and on time.
Walker Sime recruited Durham from Gleeds, where she was a director. Her resume also includes roles at Faithful+Gould, now AtkinsRealis, Kent, and AMEC.
She got her start working in oil and gas projects in Canada before shifting to nuclear and low-carbon energy. Since that transition, she has leaned into helping companies move away from fossil fuels to more sustainable energy options.
Durham was recently the project control lead for the Sizewell C civils design programme, managing the £500m engineering part of that scheme. This was a role that required expertise in costing, scheduling, and risk management.
Regarding her position at Walker Sime, Durham said: “Walker Sime has a history of punching above its weight. We have the expertise, the passion, and the people to support these large-scale infrastructure projects.
“That’s a huge part of why I’m here—to help shape a more sustainable world and make a lasting impact.”
Durham also said: “We’re pushing innovative projects that are first of their kind at scale, and that’s something worth getting swept up in. It’s a thrilling opportunity to work on projects that can make a real difference.”
Walker Sime is headquartered in Trafford Park and has offices in Leeds and Liverpool. With 80 staff, the firm has developed a reputation for its expertise in regeneration delivery, project management, quantity surveying, dispute resolution, construction design and management, and commercial consultancy.
Current and recent projects for the firm include ECF’s £250m Stockport 8, Wirral Council’s Dock Branch masterplan, and Bruntwood SciTech’s £60m Greenheys.
