Watson lodges 40-home Accrington application

Hyndburn Council will consider plans from the Salford-based housebuilder that aim to regenerate a 1.5-acre former railway sidings.

A mix of 32 houses and eight cottage flats would be delivered as affordable homes on the brownfield site north of Charter Street. Watson Homes recently acquired the plot from Hyndburn Council. Watson will partner with a registered housing provider on the 40-home scheme.

Eden Planning is advising Watson on planning matters. The scheme’s architect is Stockport-based TADW Architects, and Urban Green is the landscape architect.

Rob Watson, director at Watson, said: “This planning submission represents an important step forward in bringing new life to this historic site.

“We have extensive experience in delivering high-quality affordable homes across Lancashire and look forward to working with our partners to create a development that meets local needs and contributes positively to the area.”

Watson currently has more than 600 homes in development, plus a further 1,000 in the planning pipeline, such as Bolton’s Church Wharf. Watson has completed 1,200 homes to date.
