Work starts on 98,000 sq ft Burnley industrial

Barnfield Construction has begun building Advance Point, an employment park of 22 units starting at 2,000 sq ft.

Advance Point sits next to the Rossendale Road Industrial Estate, just two miles from the M65’s Junction 9 and Junction 10 in Burnley.

Planning permission for Advance Point was granted in January 2023 to the Nelson-based contractor. Designed by Campbell Driver Partnership, the sheds will sit on nearly nine acres of greenfield and are geared towards manufacturing, distribution, and the light industrial sector. Current timescales have the units ready for fit-out starting in September and totalling 97,900 sq ft in size.

Tracy Clavell-Bate, head of development and acquisition at Barnfield Group, described Advance Point as a “hotspot for local businesses to set up, expand, and relocate to”.

Clavell-Bate added later: “Burnley benefits from a skilled local workforce and excellent links to key transport corridors. The site is ideally located for supply chain partners and industrial businesses.”

Trevor Dawson is the agent for the business park. Director Michael Cavannagh reflected on Advance Point, saying: “This is an exciting scheme which demonstrates Barnfield Construction’s commitment to the area which desperately needs a supply of units to satisfy demand. The units will be built ready for end users to undertake their own fit-out and will be available from September 2024.”

Barnfield is active throughout Lancashire, with current projects including a 35,000 sq ft University of Central Lancashire teaching facility at the old Newtown Mill in Burnley, a 90,000 sq ft commercial project off Kellet Road in Carnforth, and 53 homes in Pendle.

Earlier this year, Barnfield finished the 35,000 sq ft Mill Bank Business Park, a scheme that was developed in conjunction with Blackburn with Darwen Council.
