Your Housing Group appoints chief executive

After a month of acting as interim chief executive, Jacque Allen has now permanently taken over the leadership role at the housing association.

Allen has nearly 30 years of experience in social housing and joined Your Housing Group in April 2020 as chief operating officer. Last year she was named deputy chief executive. She became interim chief executive when Brian Cronin retired from the post in July.

This month, YHG’s board agreed to offer Allen the position permanently.

YHG board chair Richard Groome said: “Jacque is an exceptional leader who is both driven and compassionate. She is highly regarded in the sector and across our organisation. I have no doubt that she is the right person to lead Your Housing Group into this next phase.”

Reacting to her new role, Allen took time to praise the housing association.

“Your Housing Group is an exceptional organisation with an amazing team who are passionate about striving to deliver the very best for our customers,” she said.

“I am looking forward to building on some of the great work our team has already delivered and ensure we are best placed to meet the many economic challenges we face as a sector and beyond, to ensure customers’ needs remain our priority.”

Allen said the organisation would continue to reinvest in its current properties, including where it comes to building and fire safety. She also said YHG would provide inclusive services and support to residents.

“We are particularly excited about our plans to continue finding effective ways to connect with our customers, both working with them and for them, in delivering services that embrace the very best of customer service,” she said.

Current projects for YHG include constructing 58 apartments in Bolton and 716 homes in Newton Heath. The housing association has also partnered with the University of Liverpool and non-profit Changing Streams to design and build a series of prototype houses to explore different methods of reducing plastic and carbon.
